I'd argue that the best type of remix/mashup is one that basically incorporates rap with any good song...very broad, I know. So here's a random assortment of mashups that do just that:

I've been listening to Two Door Cinema Club a lot recently. They have a really catchy electronic/alternative sound, very similar to Vampire Weekend and Phoenix in my opinion. Last month they released their first studio album, Tourist History, and it's quite good. Click on the link to buy it.
